As a huge fan of the original exorcist, I had high hopes for this film. Finally a sequel that looks promising!!! However the best rating I can give this film is a meh 3. First off, we start out great with what seems to be a solid back story to the main characters. They try to build off of this point to construct the main plot of the story but end up falling short with what seems to be a very shallow and underdeveloped story. Consequently, you have a very rushed plot progression that lacks in depth character development. The whole movie seemed rushed to the final exorcism scene which culminated in a bunch of people trying to exorcize the girls. A very crowded and discombobulated scene. Their was almost no creep factor in this film in comparison to the original. No solid or consistent build up in possession or paranormal activity. You have a couple isolated scenes like the hospital scene with Anne dowd but that was about it. Even Bringing in Ellen Burstyn and Linda Blair couldn't save this dumpster fire of a poorly stitched together plot. It was an overall lacking movie that just simply pales in comparison in every aspect to the original. Maybe a second watch through might change my perspective but after watching it for the first time in theaters I can say I'm a little disappointed.
