I don’t understand why this got such great reviews. Visually, the film perfectly conveyed the dark, nuanced world, but the characters were far from compelling. The only compelling character was Liu Kang. The actor brought gravity to the character. The main protagonist was too vapid. However, I was not impressed by the portrayal of the other characters. The writing of this film was really disappointing. The dialogue was empty, cringey and predictable. It’s as if a bunch of 50 year-old bro’s wrote this film. The transitions in this film were awkward including the pacing. Circling back to the visuals, I really loved the fatalities. Really gruesome.
