My GBU Quick Review
The Good:
SoS has excellent gameplay. From the battles, exploration, puzzles, and quests, everything is top notch. You never feel frustrated or lost. The game is more linear, but it beats grinding and endless searching. The gameplay itself is a joy on par with any JRPG. A nice few twists and turns reminisce of days of old are thrown in too.
The Bad:
The main characters and story do lack something to be desired. While they are not the silent protagonist of many JRPG’s they might as well be. They lack character and development. Very few side characters will leave an impact as well. The overall story arc is also rather bland and feels small. It’s as if you have missed something along the way. Which leads to the main reason the story is the worst part of the game…
The Ugly.
Garl. I am not only a member of the “I hate Garl” club, I’m the president. He is supposed to be the “Good guy, Samwise Gamgee best friend” but you never get to experience it firsthand. You are constantly reminded at every dialog scene how “Good” Garl is over and over. So instead of admiration you fell annoyed and aggravated. He alone is the reason I will not reply the game.
Round Up: Great Gameplay. Story is meh. Garl is annoying.
