I enjoyed it but the ending felt abrupt, and the villain felt flimsy. New world building lore was added late to the story and one of the larger plot elements was just a millennia long misunderstanding.
Towards the end, I kept expecting something to happen that couldn't possibly be resolved in what was left, and a 5th book would have to happen to tie up the 2 dimensional villain and reveal a final, more fleshed out ending.
I enjoy Tyen and Rielle as characters, and my favorite parts of this series have been when they settled in worlds for longer than a few pages.
I would like to see a book set in the far future of the millenium's rule network of worlds, to see how everything played out for the characters in retrospect.
