While I found the facts interesting, the jumping back and forth between decades and centuries made it difficult to follow. The chapter on the actress Mary Astor and in the gay club The Astor didn’t really seem to fit into the book. It was almost as if the author found those topics interesting and tried to find some way to include them. Fail.
