High School Musical: The Musical: The Series

Was obsessed with the original high school musical movies back in the day and as a 20-year-old I can proudly say that I still am. So when the announcements for a spinoff show came out, I can’t lie I was a bit sceptical to be honest. I was a little bit aggravated and annoyed that they would want to risk the possibility of tarnishing The high school musical name by releasing a spin-off that could flop. But when Disney plus came out and it was all the rage, I decided to be one of the people who signed up to the free seven day subscription.Having watched almost every single movie ever released over my 20 years of existence, I decided to give the original shows a watch so I succumbed to my curiosity and put on the first episode of high school musical the musical the series and I can honestly say: WELL DONE!!. Well done to the producers, directors the writers, plot makers, basically everyone that went into developing and executing the concept of the spin off. I was terrified the spinoff was gonna be a new year level of East high Wildcats basically trying to be what high school musical was but failing miserably. But instead it was a completely different concept, just a bunch of kids who happened to go to the school that high school musical was filmed in, who put on a play based off the amazing first HSM movie. Pretty smart to be honest. They didn’t mess with the original they didn’t try and ‘one up’ the original or even remotely believe that they could ever contest with it, they simply honoured it and it was good. Needless to say I finished the whole season and Liked it. They had some pretty good original songs in it too. It will definitely appeal to this generations younger audience who can fall in love with a new set of high school musical students, and to those who grew up with the original movies, we can watch and reminisce about the good old days. So to sum this all up, I’ll be tuning in for season two to see where it could go from here, hoping that they can continue off this really good concept and keep it interesting and refreshing . And to the actors, kudos to you all for signing up to this project because TBH I would’ve been freaking out that the world would turn on me. But it worked in your favour. I’ll definitely be looking out for your faces in upcoming movies.
