Outward is hardcore, open world survival game with the combat of something kin to the souls series. And it is by far the BEST bad game I’ve ever played. Now generally, I don’t think the game is actually just…. bad, but playing this game solo is a nightmare at times with how the difficult spikes from encounter to encounter. Animals will often spam the same attack on you, leaving you unable to avoid taking damage if you intend to fight them. Human enemies often come in pairs or more. Every “boss” I’ve come across I do little to no damage to, even if it’s the best weapons I can find in the region. Every bad thing I could talk about with this game, all stems from its combat where there is one incredibly glaring issue. This game is NOT designed to play solo and you feel it every step of the way. Which sucks, because I honestly love this game. I haven’t felt such a sense of freedom from a game in such a long time. Exploration is fun, combat is fun, the survival mechanics are fun. My only bit of advice is to play it with a friend, otherwise you’re in for a rough time.
