As im reading the reviews, i see many people are describing Humbert to be the victim, and as this may be seen through a certain perspective, its not true. If you think this (in my opinion) you didn't get the true meaning to this movie. At the beginning, Humbert’s whole reasoning to stay at that house was to be closer to Lo. He did not stay there for the mom. And mind you, she was 14/15? I don't remember precisely, but she was underage. The story is completely based from Humbert’s perspective, trying to make the watchers feel bad for him in a sense. Regardless if Lo was doing seductive acts to Hum, she was still a child and he knew that. He knew it the whole time, and at the end of the movie this is especially known because of him telling her “Lo, can you ever forget what i have done to you?” He clearly knew he was in the wrong. Humbert is not the victim, Lolita is.
