Dumble-Dont!
Devoid of the magic, dialogue, and a hero that makes this franchise what it is. The line that sums this movie up is at the 1 hour and 56 minute mark was "I don't get it?"...
Was it directed by someone who has never read the books? It breaks Potter verse laws. It's so egregious and distracting. Did they switch writers? The characters were so uncharacteristic... lifeless. The dialogue was painful and forced. Was it edited by someone working from home, on the couch, under a snuggie? So many details were overlooked. The special effects could have been put to better use. The matrix meets star wars fight scenes were confusing. What happened to all the innocent bystanders.
There were two scenes that were fantastic which merited the second star
*SPOILER*
When Newt goes to the prison to free his brother and when the briefcases open and attack....otherwise....
Ive never seen Mads Mikkelsen before but his performance was incredibly forgettable and flat. What a disappointment considering Colin Farrell and Johnny Depp had built him up larger than life. Mikkelsen was the "straight to home video" version of Grindewald.
Jude Laws Dumbledore is so far off from the original character. Grindewald said "who's going to love you now Dumbledore?" Credence backstory was unimaginative and barely touched on, the storyline doesn't add up...
I could go on but summed up..... I wish I hadn't seen it.
Here's an alternate ending, the secret is Dumbledore was creating potions and accidentally drugged himself and it was just a huge hallucination. The cut scene can go back to the beginning when he's drinking tea and you all can try again!
