The one thing that I have always loved about Marvel was that they seemed to enjoy comics and characters that were outside the realm of reality, only skimming the real world once in a while with often less than enjoyable results. Falcon and the Winter Soldier sets Sam and Bucky in the present world, just when we needed to have a fantasy outlet. Though there is wonderful action sequences in the first episodes, the crux of Sam’s life is steeped in victimhood, from walking on the street to getting a loan. Bucky, on the other hand, has to face the demons he has faced in the comics and seems to be a dark horse hit. The introduction of John Walker and Battlestar (which unlike the comics, has no powers and doesn’t carry his shield) shows one of the storylines of CPT America’s departure. Again, Lamar is caught in the real world and John is consistent with the comics. Not sure of it is a Disney thing, or a Feige thing, but a lot of this series has me wanting more of a Marvel feel. WandaVision gave us a lot of twists and turns and still felt distinctly Marvel. This feels like one mans stuggle to find his place in society, not with the Shield, with his superhero friend, Bucky.
