Silence of The Lambs is one of the greatest psychological horror movies of all time, but it is also one of the scariest. This movie deals with some incredibly mature and sickening subject matter that will undoubtedly make your skin crawl. Photos of skinned victims are frequently shown, a man is brutally gutted, one of the serial killers tears the skin of a man's face and wears it as a disguise, and there are plenty of sequences with near unbearable tension. However, those mature enough to handle it will find an excellently made movie with incredible acting preformances and plenty of complex (if menacing) symbolism. Anthony Hopkins delivers the preformance of a lifetime in this film as Dr. Hannibal Lecter. Making the cannibalistic psychopath into one of the most intimidating, captivating, and disturbing villians ever put to screen. Jodie foster is also very sympathetic as the movie's heroine Clarice Starling and she is very easy to root for and care about. Clarice is also the main mechanism for the film's brilliantly dark themes about the oppression and menace women often feel in today's society. Overall, The Silence of The Lambs is an amazing, but horrifying classic that only mature viewers should see.
