If you don't know this band, or in particular, this album, do yourself a treat and have a listen to it. The story that accompanies its release is as tragic as the album is great. Partway into its making one of its two main members contracted a terminal cancer, and the other member only came back to finish it some years later due to the emotional hangover of his death because they had been so close for years. She moved to LA also to escape the NY memories and finish any of the pieces that needed more work. This is dream pop at its best, poetically deep lyrics and singing by Alejandra, elegant arrangements and orchestration, with beauty percolating through the spirited overcoming of a tragic end to an artistic life. Benjamin would have been so pleased that Alejandra summoned the will to complete an album we're so much richer having.
