I have always enjoyed Catherine Tate’s work. Her characters such as ‘Nan’ and ‘Lauren’ are brilliant observations and I loved her as Donna in Dr Who. However, Queen of Oz hardly made me smile and didn’t make me laugh once. In fact I found it cringeworthy and annoying. The titular character is horrible and impossible to like or relate to. Unlike her excellent previous characters, Georgiana presented as one dimensional. I kept hoping it would improve. I watched the second episode on iPlayer to see if it would warm up - but it didn’t. Disappointing.
