I was moved by this movie more than any movie has moved me in many years. I did read the book, and did wonder if had I not read the book would I have enjoyed it as much. This is a story that requires the ability to process situations that are outside the realm of normal experiences; however, that is the beauty and richness of this experience.
I am disappointed that it received such poor reviews. I wonder if audiences have become too unfeeling because of all the action packed, extremely loud, big buck, big blockbuster movies of the Marvel comics genre and other dark foreboding type movies to be able to appreciate a movie such as The Golden Finch. I have taken my Grand Sons to several movies of the loud, action packed type that is geared to the attention of a 15 year old. I hope with maturation they may eventually be able to appreciate the complexity of situations and emotions that some individuals must go through.
