I went to President Obama's second inauguration and was compelled to read Becoming because I did not know that much about Michelle Obama. I found out how truly challenging her life was through the phases of her growth and well fought accomplishments. I better understood the endless difficulties that occurred during 8 years in the White House. I was sad all over again to read about the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. The First Lady had taken action to bring notice to the health, nutrition and advancement of children everywhere. That tragedy was all the more heartbreaking. Her realizations and revelations helped me to know that even where we are now in this political upheaval that there is HOPE.
