Got this game as a gift for my sister's birthday. While the graphics are amazing and the new 3D look is stunning, it's not quite living up to the 'Kirby' standards.
Pros:
•The animation is bouncy and playful, matching the Kirby aesthetic.
•It has a unique world as compared to other titles, entering the spectrum of a 3D world and atmosphere whilst not straying too far from the theme of previous games.
•Everything is so cute, from Kirby and Bandana themselves to the enemies that populate the world.
•The game works well both in handheld and detached modes of the switch.
•New enemies were added to the game, each with their own unique ability and look.
Cons:
•THE CONTROLS. Honestly, they weren't that much of an issue during the first few stages of the game, but later on they just got more annoying and harder to work around. I think this is because of the restrictions of a 3D world, such as the inability to use directional buttons as part of the moveset. Still, it was annoying nonetheless.
•It felt as though it lacked a real story, as through the stages of the game, it seemed to reuse elements of the previous. That led to it feeling repetitive and too easy.
•Honestly, the 2-player mechanic is a useful option rather than solo, but I really feel like there should be a couple more player slots. Star allies really set a good example of how it could be done. At least have more options for player 2 besides waddle dee.
•The lack of copy abilities kinda stunk, as with the previous games there was just such a variety with what abilities you could choose from. This title felt really lack-luster in comparison to Star Allies in that aspect as well, especially since that game let the other players BE the enemies, and that was really clever.
Overall, I would recommend that you buy this game- that is, if you are willing to spend your 60 bucks on a fast-paced, two-player game. Personally, I feel like it's the ultimate choice between Star Allies and Forgotton Land on the switch.
