This so call sequel was a disgrace to the original Deep Blue Sea film (1999). First of all the plot was weak and unrealistic. It's crucial to make fiction believable, otherwise you lose the audience. Second, what made the original DBS even more engaging was the use of real shark footage and animatronic sharks with a combination of CG sharks which made the entire story realistic. The death scenes in the original were believable and well thought without exaggerating even though the sharks were bigger and smarter, as opposed to the ones in DBS 2. More gore and vicious deaths doesn't mean that it will make the film better and more attractive.
I'm a huge shark movie fan and Deep Blue Sea (1999) is my top favorite among all the sharks movies I've seen by far in my opinion. It's too bad that some film makers don't take in consideration the hard work, dedication and attention to detail in the process of creating a sucessful film and just go and produce a mediocre ones for the sake of producing ones.
You want a successful sequel to Deep Blue Sea? bring back the one and only Director Renny Harlin and his original team including music composer Trevor Rabin with that awesome soundtrack which I still listen to. And why not bring back badass Thomas Jane and our LL Cool J, and of course the mako animatronic sharks!
