Doesn't come close to the book. Was quite excited when I saw this advised as the book is one of my Dads favourites. Couldn't have been more disappointed the story didn't come close that that of the one in the book nor did the characters represent any of those in the book. The film was also very head to follow as the storyline was unclear. Honestly it's a shame they made a bad job as so many love the book.
