Great Non-Fiction Book with a lot of amazing insights about a everyday worklife topic
In all my trainings, education and worklife i never got real lectures about workshop design. I just attended a lot, and took away what I needed for my own workshops. In the current times with limited reallife possibilities and now an increasing demand for workshops, I wanted to educate myself and got "The Workshop Survival Guide".
And it was worth it - in a very pleasant way to explain things, which allows me to stay on the topic concentrated for longer time, the authors pulling a lot of their knowledge about workshops. Every single aspect for workshop design is discussed, explained and provided with ideas to optimize them. Also handson tips for the upcoming real work are given.
Especially the focus on every step convinced me. A lot of elements in a workshop are - at least for myself - understood as automatic or given (location, breaks, catering, behaviour of the presenter, etc.) . But if you really focus on these neglibilities, you learn a lot where you can improve. Also hints how to handle negative elements are given - so you realy get a full equiped toolbox.
I also recognized a lot of the tips given, as already experienced in my workshop history. And mostly by presenters I considered as the good ones.
I can just recommend this book for everyone who has to design workshops - i will use it as a guideline to prepare and check mine, to provide better ones. And already gonna be excited to design my next workshop.
