I want to preface this review with I read the book and then literally watched this. Currently 8 episodes out and I’ve watched them all.
Overall, it is okay. I think they made Daisy truly unlikable. They did the give us enough time to feel for her like in the books.
I also hate the change of her just joining the band before her career, part of the reason Billy doesn’t trust her to write music is cause she doesn’t write her own with her music. It’s also why the crowd loves her, not just cause of one hit song. There’s a lot of one hit wonders in music now and if you pointed our those people on a stage - no one would know who they are. Yet they all know Daisy? Makes no sense.
Also as a feminist, they made Daisy literally hate men. Not all feminists hate men. Thats what they made Daisy feel like though.
Also they never touched how hard his addiction truly was for Billy. Like why he chose his decisions, like why being around Daisy was hard not only cause he’s attracted to her but shes a straight up addict.
Theres not enough drugs or alcohol or sex, which seems odd cause that would actually make it easier to make considering the book and story are based off Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks did so many drugs she burned a hole in her nose at some point.
Also made it seem like Camila was just a nuisance to Billy when Camila in the book is what Billy needs. And they never touched on it. Daisy is what he wants because they connect emotionally, musically and he’s attracted to her so he thinks he's in love with her but she is chaotic, an addict, hard headed, and childish - but he chooses Camila because he loves her which he doesn’t show at all in the show, and she grounds him, and shes kind. She makes Billy better. Daisy would make him worse.
They make Camila look like a fool when in reality she’s smarter than Daisy and all the members of the Six combined.
The only redeeming thing in the show is the acting and singing is good. and adding Eddie being in love with Camila did add depth to his hate but if you want what the book gave. They failed on the depth of the characters and why they made the decisions they do.
Overall, very disappointing.
