Spoiler warning: It was cute and sweet and the plot was decent it hit the right notes but ugh it can not seal the deal, i mean oof that ending felt so abrupt it left you completely underwhelmed cause you want more to the story but it gives the feel that its a stand alone like all the other ghibli works. Literally give it twenty more minutes throw in a little character development and a slight last act rewrite so it didnt feel like it just abruptly ends and id say its a win. as is it feels like it was wrapped up early and had no moral conflict or real lesson other then the “control your environment to be happy” attitude of the main character. Maybe if there was a small bit about her not getting her way (besides being adopted) and having to deal with it and see that sometimes that happens and thats okay or a sub plot of trying to use magic shes so desperate to learn to find her real mom or the girl with red hair as a second film plot if he didnt have the time
