I could not make it through the first episode. This is a soap opera through and through. A trite one, no less. While I generally love period dramas, this one was over the top. Two stars for scenery, photography and costuming - all quite beautiful.

Not my favorite. To be honest, I couldn't finish it because it became so trite. I'd rather not waste my time on books in which the characters are predictable. I try to read several different genres, but find that books written at the turn of the century often suffer from narrow ideas.
