This was such a disappointment. Besides the fabulous casting of Gosling and Robbie, it really was abysmal. What a horrible message to be serving up to little girls. We live in a "real world" where we are surrounded by powerful women and women in lead roles. The inventor of Barbie is a woman and the movie was written and directed by a woman - the irony. We don't live in 1930 and men aren't the enemy. Also, with the original Barbie being modeled after Ruth Handler's daughter, slender blue-eyed Barbie is "stereotypical Barbie" and there is nothing wrong with that. The constant push for inclusivity is actually quite exclusive. It would be really nice if we could just get back to fun movies without the nauseating lessons sprinkled throughout the story line.
