This review is mainly for World of CHEL game modes, since this is the mode I play the most.
I’ve really enjoyed the NHL game on the various consoles I’ve own. NHL 20 was solid overall and really fun playing World of Chel. That said NHL 21 is WILDLY inconsistent. Not sure if it’s because the developers were rushing to finishing it or due to the hidden handicap system EA swears it doesn’t have.
The various game modes in World of Chel can be legitimately some of the best hockey mini games currently available. But once you go on a win streak, watch for “mistakes” to be made by your teammates controlled by CPU. Especially the goalie. Also all of a sudden you can’t make accurate passes or shots. 🤔 When you play the game long enough, you can tell when something seems off, especially right after stringing together a multiple of wins. It’s just too bad those have to be taken in account for because otherwise it can be a great experience.
Great skater customization and creativity. Poor execution.
Also the the fighting is trash and doesn’t actually make sense. Sometimes you can choose to fight and other times you literally just have to fight someone after body checking.
But hey, at least you can hit people after the whistle again.
Update: World of Chel is continually becoming less and less playable. (Dynamic Difficulty Adjuster) Also the Profanity detector is glitchy. Sometimes you're allowed to use certain letter combinations. I get it. There are plenty of people who are legitimately are racist with their name choices. But some how they find ways around the profanity detector, meanwhile the last name "Cage" is considered profanity. Yeah.
