I didn't expect this to be a blockbuster but Mary J Blige gives a solid serious performance. She carries the film and keeps you engaged throughout although the direction and screenplay could have been much better. The plot is somewhat predictable but has enough variances to keep you guessing at points. It's worth a watch just to see Mary J Blige act in a more serious role.
