A forgettable and uninspired, by the numbers exercise in mediocre film making. Harrison is truly excellent and gives at times an emotional and nuanced performance but sadly that's about all this film can conjure. The set pieces are muddled, confused and mired in surprisingly amateur CG and chronicly bad green screen blending. The plot really goes nowhere and misses several opportunities to try something more expansive and imaginative, and unfortunately just settles for a safe status quo.
Other than Indy, the others characters are thinly drawn and are devoid of any real motivation, with several characters killed merely for the sake of servicing the plot and Waller Bridge seems to be sadly muted for the purposes of being in a Hollywood tentpole, and the less I say about her rote unessecerry side kick the better.
It's not terrible yet never really tries or seems to want to be anything more than the sum of it's parts. There is a great film lurking somewhere below the surface but other than Ford, no one seems to want to take the leap of faith
