Let’s get the nonsense out of the way… This is better than the original film and will no doubt end up as a future classic. When I sat down and watched this I was genuinely excited and the opening credits rolled and the familiar synth music played out and I got goosebumps! No pun intended, but from there the film delivers on so many fronts. This isn’t a cash grab sequel where lazy writing is hidden by a big budget and special effects, this film reaches a wide audience with genuine excitement, emotion and action all rolled into one. If you didn’t respect Tom Cruise’s abilities before this film then you surely have to after seeing this. I left the film feeling like I’d been on a nostalgia trip, but without over egging that part. The casting of Teller as Goose’s son was great and he really pulls it off well, as do all of the cast even the lesser parts. I’m going to see it again at the big screen and I recommend you do too as it won’t be the same at home. Can’t wait for the next two Mission Impossible films now!
