They tried. I love the fact that they attempted to confront social issues in the series but they're pushing equality and diversity so much that they forgot to have a decent storyline. Not to mention the wokeness that they do portray is forced and somehow still so out of touch. The original SATC series wasn't diverse and at times the agenda was very narrow minded. This new series seems like a way to redeem themselves. Unfortunately, they do it with writing that's awkward and cringey.
The characters aren't even who they used to be: just old sad women, perpetuating the untrue narrative that after the age of 40, women don't exist and their lives are defined by their age. The characters can't seem to stop talking about their old age, decaying bodies, and urination?! Why are there so many references to pee?! I can't seem to figure out why they aren't depicting any of the good things that come with age, like maturity and wisdom? Which by the way none of the characters seem to have acquired.
So disappointed. This show could have been so much more: forward thinking, thought provoking and an opportunity to portray an accurate image of women in their 50's. A wasted opportunity in my opinion.
