I read the book American Prometheus about Oppenheimer. Indeed he was like the ancient mythical hero Prometheus, bringing fire to mankind. I thought the movie would be a dissappointment compared to the book, but it wasn't. It was highly accurate, the characters seemed very authentic in particular the characters of Lewis Strauss and General Groves who hired Oppenheimer for the Manhattan Project. So hats off to Robert Downey Jr. and Mat Damon who played those parts. The dialogue and acting were really extraordinary, especially in the latter half of the movie. Then there is the gorgeous landscape, the scrubland of northern New Mexico, the Sangre de Christo Mountains. The cinematography was breathtaking. The only major omission-- and it is significant, shots or stills or video of the aftermath of the bombs' explosions should have been juxtaposed with the cheering after the gadget was proved successful. The people of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were subjected to Hell on Earth and then tortured afterwards with radiation burns and poisoning. That is our legacy. A powerful and important film though. Great job Christopher Nolan.
