Phenomenal performance by Joaquin Phoenix. He deserves an Oscar for his performance in this movie. Lady Gaga's performance was mediocre. Not her fault it was the script of too much singiing and not enough acting for her role. I found this movie quite sad as my ASD non verbal son was abused by his father and he developed the same manical laugh as Arthur when his anxiety escalates or someone shouts at him so I found this quite triggering. I felt extremely sad and felt alot of empathy for Arthur because of this. Great movie though I really enjoyed it
