Like many Netflix adaptations, this suffers from the usual problems:
- costumes *look* like costumes, unweathered and unnaturally clean and ironed
- "Tell don't show" exposition-heavy hand-holding dialogue that walks viewers through every single meticulous facet of the show rather than letting viewers experience things and find things out for themselves
- Sapping away character traits that are vital to their journey (Sokka's immature views of what it means to be a Warrior that facilitate his journey from Boy to Man, Aang's immature views due to being a child forced to confront a war he wants no part of facilitating his growth in maturity)
- Removing, mixing together, or otherwise replacing key moments that are vital to the story and character development for the sake of time/money in ways that are nonsensical
- Stilted writing and poor direction resulting in stiff lines and no allowance for the characters to just *BE.* Every time there's a glimmer of character development, it snaps back to this rigid character frame and doesn't let the characters feel real, just two dimensional poorly-fleshed-out imitations of themselves.
