Burke's prose inspires me. I regularly take the time, when reading Burke, to note in my journals sentences from his books. He is an alchemist with words. I began listening to books about 2 years while recovering from a concussion - I couldn't read. One of the first books I listened to was "Wayfaring Stranger," and from there I found In the Electric Mist . . ." And, I fell in love with Dave Robicheaux, and James Lee Burke. I am in the process of listening - and reading along on Kindle - The New Iberia Blues. Let me just say that, "I am hunting for a bargain online to purchase this book and make it part of my Robicheaux collection. It is beautiful to listen to. There is, of course, the violent element of life that goes along with Robicheaux, but reading - or listening - to Burke's phrasing and word magic makes it OK. I would ALWAYS recommend a James Lee Burke book. Except - maybe "Robicheaux." Hated the ending. (Sorry about that spoiler but it is was it is). Keep reading!
