Same enjoyable game, but frustrating maintenance required and much less value for your dollar compared to earlier generations of The Sims. Given a thumbs down, as there is no 2.5/5 rating option.
The Sims 4 has its plus points: even more realistic gameplay, and great character and build customization, and more skills. The "Get To Work" expansion pack gets a special mention.
HOWEVER, the negatives of the Sims 4 are piling up the longer I play.
- Firstly, you need to access the game through Origin. There are constant updates required for the game - I mean, CONSTANT. This is frustrating and kills my enthusiasm for the game.
- The neighbourhoods are significantly smaller, and do not allow you to place new empty lots.
- Expansion packs are $50 AUD each, and really fall short of their earlier renditions in The Sims 2, for almost double the price. This seems like EA's ploy to milk out every dollar possible from its users.
- Unlike The Sims 2: Apartment Life, the Sims 4: City Living does not allow you to build new apartment blocks. You are forced to use existing apartment block builds, confined by the existing boundaries.
Overall disappointed with how this series has rolled out, and how much you end up having to spend.
