Should have been called Josephine.
I was excited to see one of the most legendary historical figures inspire his troops and demonstrate his masterful tactics against Europe. However, none of this was demonstrated. Napoleon lacked all charisma, and the film didn't demonstrate why he had a loyal following, which led the viewing to be quite confusing.
The film was also most likely about his wife Joesphine and their unique relationship. Which to be honest I didn't know much about, probably because I never cared. Every person in history has had a loved one. What made him unique was his accomplishments and how he got them. That's why we remembered him!
So the film should have been called Joesohine as that would have lowered everyone's expectations of a film about Napoleon.
It wasn't a bad film, there were certainly some great moments in there, and there was some awesome cinema photograpghy. The Waterloo battle scene was also highly memorable. I'd like to watch the 5 hour version to see if that fills in some of the gaps.
