A story based on history, or interpretation of, it follows the source closely so this means that the drama of concise dialogue and a tight script would have been a disservice. This film is very dialogue heavy but it is better for it, I can't imagine having a film about, for all intents and purposes, the 'american prometheus' without a heavy amount of exposition and a side of philosophy. This film has it's strength, not in the small explosion, which is fairly accurate to the real trinity blast, but the long term, theoretical affects of the existence of atomic bombs. The lack of excitement is is the correct responce as this film was made to hughlight the thoughts of the creators and air them through art filmography. There should be no room for excitement and pleasure in a film that centres itself in the recipie for planetary destruction through blast and fallout, the long dialogues are designed for this purpose, to create unease about the enjoyment, this requires a deeper level of morality to draw pleasure from than nolan's other films, to me a masterpiece, after all what do we know of the mona lisa, but that some love the work but others hate it, it is the nature of art to question and betray the masses but for those who enjoy it, it is perfect and thoroughly brilliant.
