Maamannan is a movie about the social injustices that are still prevalent in our society today that a lot of people are in denial about. The ones coming out to comment that this movie incites caste feelings are people who either have never been discriminated in their life before or do not want somebody who is discriminated to voice out their opinion at all. Mari Selvaraj was right when he compared this movie to Thevar Magan in the sense that Thevar Magan was about a family that was well respected and looked upon on. In shark contrast, you have this life of an oppressed who on the outside may seem like he is liked and respected but has no power whatsoever. For people saying today's generation are all friends and nobody sees caste, what bubble are you living in? This is a true story based on the experiences of a real person. I urge you to open up a newspaper or watch the news to see how widespread caste-based discrimination still is today. Just because you haven't experienced it yourself doesn't mean it's not happening to others. Open your narrow minds and see the world with kinder eyes.
Performances - Stellar performances from every single person who graced the frame. You can tell everyone has poured their hearts and souls into it. Mari Selvaraj is a pure genius and a talented director who is rightly using his platform to raise awareness about important issues.
