Grace Wheeler

This is a movie that I grew up with, but it has lasted the test of time. I still enjoy it at 20 years old! The songs are beautiful, and the plot/characters are well done. Some of the lines included hit me harder now that I'm old enough to really pay attention. I miss Barbie movies like this! I just bought a collection of all the old ones, without all the pop-stars and fashionistas that have become the shallow norm. I'd love to see this movie converted to a Broadway musical

It was okay being viewed as its own thing, but if you thought it was shallow like I did, read the book! The book is way better, and relates more to actual teen issues. The main characters are given more depth, and it isn't down to just some status quo change. I wish they would have kept true to the source material, but probably could not without it being less "teen friendly" in the eyes of parents (due to all the sex in the books).
