I'll try to keep this unbiased. If I had to sum the game up in one sentence, I'd say this: The game is exclusively for adults who are skilled at it. With that said, the game matching system is highly unbalanced, and the gameplay isn't worth the hype that it tends to receive. Graphics are okay, and the selection of characters and the range of abilities is okay as well, but none of that matters if the actual competitive gameplay is not up to par. While players probably know that the game is weighted on skill, new players wouldn't know this. It's common for a player to require growth to enjoy a game, but this game just throws you into a match with pros who clearly know what they're doing (judging by the combos they use) and expects you to, what, win? Also, side tangent, waiting up to a minute in those games as a penalty for dying is highly unpleasant. If League wants to see a growth in the player base, they need to help new players learn, not put them through a tutorial and then expect the player to be godlike. And, for the jokes of it, League of Legends turns into "LOL," suggesting the entirety of the game to be a joke. :')
