Sonic Mania is not only best 2D Sonic game but it is the best Sonic game of all time. Sonic Mania is a Sega love letter to all the Sonic fans. It shows us what makes the Sega Genesis games so amazing by combining all the good parts of Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic CD, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles. Sure 8/12 of the zones are unoriginal but they had remixes of the original soundtracks and made them sound better. They also make the level design better and more unique as well as less irritating in both old and new zones. Sonic, Tails and Knuckles are all playable and play very well. Sonic has his new move "Drop Dash" which is an awesome move to use and you can change to the Insta Shield or Super Peel Out in the options menu (but you got to unlock it with the blue sphere stages [as well as "& Knuckles mode" and "Debug Mode"]). I love & Knuckles mode it is a meme that came to life LITTERALLY!:) Debug Mode is cool too because you put things in random places at free will. Also being able to play as Mighty and Ray is such a Super Sonic miracle. They're both ogs that were forgetten and I am so happy that they were brought back in Sonic Mania. Mighty Sonic Mania has the best bosses of any 2D Sonic game, even the mini bosses were awesome too and I love that they brought back Metal Sonic and Team Hooligan. Sonic Mania brought back all the ogs and is better than the Sega Genesis games. It may lack originality, good story, and Hyper Sonic but I can overlook that with all the amazing things they did with this game. I believe it is a perfect Sonic game for new fans to get into. Sonic Mania is the best Sonic game of all time!
