I so very much wanted to like this movie. I was hopeful through maybe the first hour, hour and a half but by the end, it was obvious.
Robert Pattinson’s take on the Batman/Bruce Wayne character reminds me of those emo bands I listened to in high school. Sure, Batman is a little emo but he’s not a whiney little teenager blasting Nirvana in his bedroom. The fact that that’s what they turned him into kinda hurts. It makes me miss Ben Affleck. I genuinely believe that he didn’t even attempt any of the fight scenes as an actor and probably didn’t even do his own Batman growl. He just didn’t. He doesn’t have it in him.
Also, the guy who plays the Riddler and the guy at the end whose supposed to play the Joker have zero bad guy charisma. I believe them as crazy people but they just don’t have the stuff to attract henchmen, build an evil empire, ect.
I’m giving one star because certain elements of the story were nice, remind me of Gotham, which I absolutely loved. The other star is for Catwoman. Zoe Kravitz was no Eartha Kitt, but she definitely pulled more than just her own weight in this film.
