I love survival stories and YA dystopian novels/films, so this show initially caught my attention. And reviews have been overwhelmingly positive so far. I saw some of the bad reviews citing "liberal propaganda," but I dismissed those because I'm pretty liberal myself. But I was shocked by how terrible this show was. I had a hard time getting through the first 20 minutes, but I forced myself to finish the first episode. It's painful. The main character is an angsty know-it-all, and the others are just overdrawn stereotypes and unbelievable caricatures. It's a cast of moody teenagers who find themselves in a ridiculous island survival scenario. To make matters worse, much of the story is told through the teens' own melodramatic narration.
