Firstly, as a Swede, apart from the pole, there is very little actual Swedish culture at play here. Having said that, this is the most enthralling, engaging, suspenseful, horrific, funny and beautifully crafted film I’ve seen in a while. It pays not to only focus on the actors. Mirrors are used to show hidden details, the foliage springs faces, clever use of perspective shows the smallness of humanity against the enormity of nature. A smart, horrific, brilliant film. I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen and will watch again and again, if only to look for the little details I’d missed.
