Well shot & stylistic homage to yonder-years movie-making - too bad many viewers probably won’t share in that long -drawn-out romance and will find the movie incredibly dull for the most part. The build-up and threat of violence weaves its way very slowly through the first 2 hours of the movie to a crescendo of a finale so expected of the Tarantino genre. I am a fan, but this movie is unfortunately so close to a miss. Script basically is saved by some great acting:
DiCaprio (who is very, very good here) is almost upstaged in a scene by a young actress whom he meets on set (or “actor” as she much prefers!) - she’s clearly one to watch!
