I think this is probably an ok movie. I wanted to love it as the book is amazing and magical and inspiring. However, the characters and storyline are so far from the book that my 8 year old and I were both disappointed. The changes that are so central in the book are absent - Colin and Mary not spoilt enough at the start so the changes in their personalities and behaviour weren't clear, old Ben Weatherstaff, the gardener not featured at all, and even the changing seasons and the magic of new growth in the secret garden wasn't shown. Maybe worth a watch if you have never read the book, but I'm going to have to re-read the book to clear this film version from my head!
