If a movie can make you ask questions, keep you invested and make you search for film breakdowns and reviews, it qualifies as a good movie. This was a good movie. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5/5 was because it never answer the big question: Why WAS Paul in everyone’s dream? Other than that, I enjoyed and would recommend.

Wouldn't it be nice to live in paradise? At least for a little while? This is why "The Beach" still holds up for me. Not so much for plot or theme or moral but for that idea. To be able to attain paradise and not have any worries. To be carefree and independent with like-minded people. There are definitely some pacing low points near the end but overall, I like this movie.

This movie did a great job tackling one of the hardest parts of a Godzilla movie. Making me care about the humans. The first 20 minutes were great as was the first half. After this point; however, that's where I feel the movie ran into problems. *Spoilers* The problem for me was when his girlfriend sacrificed herself for the main character when she could have easily pushed him and herself into the alley. Also, how that alley survived a Godzilla nuclear breath blast was beyond me. Her sacrifice made me feel something for sure but it becomes meaningless when she somehow lives in the end. The plan to defeat Godzilla was silly. Let's dunk him and bring him back up. I get the pressure thing would mess him up but there's a lot of trust in those cables, which of course they don't hold up. It was a desperate plan so I guess I can give it a pass. I really feel the Main Character should have sacrificed himself. It was all built up to it. Once they said he was a kamikaze pilot who didn't kill himself and ran I knew it would play a part in the end. I feel it would have been a better impact but they went for the happy ending and he parachutes out. Lastly, I agree with a lot of the others reviewing here who didn't super praise it. Godzilla isn't in this movie enough.

It passed the time. It didn’t blow me away. Wanna kill over 2 1/2 hours? This does the job. I didn’t love it, I didn’t hate it. I went in not knowing anything about Napoleon besides being French, Short and losing at Waterloo. I came out knowing almost the same but his wife was a floozy. That’s it. 3/5 stars.

It's a very well done movie. They make Japan look incredibly beautiful. Like most movies, you may have to be in a certain head space or have experienced certain events to appreciate this film more. If you have ever talked with/hung around someone and wanted to be closer or more intimate with them but it wasn't in the cards, that's what I got out of this movie. It's bittersweet, beautiful and a true slice of life.

It’s a solid movie. I’d give it like 8/10. The ending will throw people off but I liked the twist. The last scene made me roll my eyes but overall a decent movie nonetheless.
