It’s like walking through a slow confusing story with a few occasional pop-out scares. The game has you do things that lead to you a bad ending and that’s rather frustrating to me, because I didn’t find it entertaining enough to replay to even have a chance at the good ending. The only hint there is is to take care of Bullet. A lot of things are circular and just keep “walking” through the same repetitive stuff. At several points I had to google things to make sure I was doing the right thing simply because it just kept looping and I thought the game was broken.
Now I’ve never seen the movie, and don’t know much about the story but I don’t know, it seems to be too much for how little interaction there was. In my opinion, the scare tactics didn’t work. The main idea of a man struggling mentally in a video game loses interest very fast, especially when it’s intertwined with another story that kind of work together, but at the same time just make the game very ‘jumpy’ and not in the scared sense. It’s not all over the place, but it’s hard to stay interested when just walking for tens of minutes straight with the same two scenes going back and forth.
