This is the first movie I have ever felt the need to review. The title brings all Americans in because of the kairos of the moment and its shows us what that moment could mean. But the real gem is the story and the powerful message the story tells. It tells a story of the American dream. From a nothing documentarian of protests in nyc to sacrificing her idol to get ahead to photographing the literal most important moment of American history a legend is born. I think the story may be progressive leaning but the free will and over all feeling of keeping “America” alive is strong through the film. Overall an interesting watch.
The story has themes of anti capitalism, Patriotism, and fear of the future all at once. Something which I feel anyone on any part of the political spectrum can relate to. The movie did a great job of showing the power of journalism without alienating any group. I did say that I think the story is progressive leaning but there are plenty of things that conservatives could appreciate. Great job by Alex garland. I think in years to come this will hopefully be a unifying film.
