I read my first Isaac Asimov book when I was 10 years old, it was the first book of the foundation trilogy. My dad had it in his small library at home. It was marvelous. When the arrival of Foundation the tv series was announced, I was thrilled, and couldnt wait for it to stream. Now I regret it, if it was a stand alone series and nothing to do with Asimov's universe it would be good. Unfortunately, it is inexorably linked to the Asimov books, story, universe and thus breaks completely with what Asimov wrote, envisioned, proposed.
If anyone has read, not just Asimov's Foundation, but his sci-fi books, one can see that there is a link between almost ALL his book, a thread winding them all together, telling a MUCH larger overall story. These screenwriters fail to recognize this, fail to recognize Asimov's genius, or respect his work. What they present as Foundation deviates from the orignial work even further as new episodes appear. This last episode makes it unrecognizable, and SHOULD NOT be called Asimov's Foundation.
I am appalled by what they've done, I dont just dislike it, I despise it. The original story should not be that difficult to follow, and it is far less convoluted that the story they've conjured up for the show. Why they need to deviate so much is not something I understand or agree with. However, it does seem to be the pattern with any series on TV now. Take a pre-existing good story and just destroy it with a bad, stupid storyline, that disrespects the authors and the fans. You see it Star Trek, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, The Wheel of Time, and now unforunately Foundation, just to name a few. So much potential wasted, so much promise, only to be lied to by the producers. When will these people understand that they are NOT better than the originals, not even close.
Dont watch it, dont allow them to destroy yet another beautiful universe even further than they already have... and if at all possible, MAKE them apologize for this rape.
