When first reading the book I didn’t think it would have anything to do with abuse or anything of the sort. I thought it would be the typical love triangle and choosing who would be the best for lily. No one could have prepared me for what would happen in the next couple of chapters. But sometimes the perfect guy isn’t always as perfect as we think. Sometimes the right guy isn’t the right guy at the right time. That’s what Ryle was to lily. He was the right guy without being the right guy at the right time. As we keep reading we continue understanding that sometimes we don’t get happy endings and sometimes end up with someone else who was once good to us. But that’s also not what the book was about. It was more about understanding what women go through when being abused. All In all it was a really amazing book and I recommend reading it. I’ll admit I favored Atlas the whole time reading the book but by the end of it I couldn’t help feeling a little guilty and bad for Ryle. I wish it could’ve turned out a little differently.
