I'm the daughter of Cuban exiles. I grew up listening to Celia Cruz and "Guantanmera", eating delicious home made Cuban dishes, playing Dominoes, experiencing the bittersweet sorrow of my parents having been forced to leave their beloved homeland because of Castro's revolution. I overheard them talk with familly and friends about life in their beautiful island nation before Castro. My father would not allow Castro's name mentioned at our dinner table because it would ruin his appetite. This documentary helped me understand why so many Cuban exiles vote Republican. I now realize it's because they are petrified of communism taking hold in the U.S and ruining this country as it did Cuba. If you were born in the US like I was and want to understand your exiled Cuban parents better, I recommend this documentary.
